What is the Beach Business Improvement District?

The Beach Business Improvement District (BBID) is a non-ad valorem assessment district within the City of Fort Lauderdale. The BBID’s primary focus is to promote and market the Fort Lauderdale Beach as a premier tourist destination. They do that by supporting events and activations in the general boundaries along State Road A1A between Sunrise Boulevard to the north and Harbor Drive to the south. The City levies and collects the assessments as public funds to support marketing, visitor engagement, events, and enhancements within the district’s general boundaries along State Road A1A between Sunrise Boulevard to the north and Harbor Drive to the south. A City-appointed Advisory Committee provides recommendations on how these funds are used to benefit the district. The BBID also sponsors DiscoverFTLBeach.com, the official tourism website highlighting local hotels, restaurants, attractions, and activities. Purpose & Role of the BBID Advisory Committee

Created in 2007, the BBID Advisory Committee provides guidance and makes recommendations on services, enhancements, special programs, and events that benefit commercial property owners and the broader beachfront community. Committee members are appointed by the City Commission and serve without compensation for one-year terms. The Advisory Committee meets regularly, generally on the 2nd Monday of each month at 1:30 p.m., to review initiatives and help shape the BBID’s strategic priorities for the year ahead.

The BBID Advisory Committee consists primarily of property owners and designated representatives of the highest assessed commercial properties within the district, plus a representative from the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Beach Council.
